When I first met Steve he told me he was a log hauler and I had no idea what I was getting myself into. Even with his description of what he was, I could have never imagined what life would be like. Being the wife of a log hauler (even a logger) is a very unpredictable life. You have to have a lot of patience (I am slowly learning) because there are times when he works until all hours of the night, sometimes he doesn't work at all because of the weather, and then there are times when he's gone for days at a time working out of town. You worry constantly about his safety and the safety of his crew. When you marry a logger, you are marrying into a whole family that you knew nothing about.
Although, the lifestyle can be hard on everyone I have to admit that is worth living. My husband is rough around the edges but even after putting in anywhere between 12-16 hours a day he finds time for his family. He does everything he can to help out around the house and he holds me on a pedestal that I sometimes fear falling off. He works hard at his job, but he works even harder to be the best father and husband he can.
So, to all the logger's wives I tip my hat because I know just how difficult your lives can be and just how deep your family dynamics run!
